I am creating a new site with several many-to-many & one-to-many parent-child relationships.

I understand from your blog post (hidden link) that you will offer a separate data-migration plugin, which will convert implicit MANY-to-MANY relationships (via an intermediary object) to the new design.

QUESTIONS...
1. Will the migration tool also handle data stored in ONE-to-MANY parent-child relationships?
2. I am considering simplifying and replacing a couple of the one:many relationships with repeating fields. If so, will the new repeating field implementation be backwards compatible? If not, is there a migration tool for that data?

BY THE WAY... In the past, I might have chosen Python/Django for a project requiring complex data models. For so many reasons, I now just go with WP/Toolset. WP/Toolset still has its limitations, but unless the project requires a custom-built application (most don't), I have found that the WP/Toolset combo works just fine. Very much looking forward to the new feature!

Thank you for giving us a heads-up with the roadmap!

Hi Chuck,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

1. Since there is only mention of Many to Many relationships then it is assumed that the changes would only apply to Many to Many unless stated otherwise.

2. We always ensure backwards compatibility so with this new feature coming any previously implemented post group would still work.

We are always working to improve our products for our customers so any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shane
