Hi

I am about to set up a subscription based payment with woocommerce and need to know how much wp-types can control.

1. I plan to use https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-subscriptions/
for setting up the subscription part. People buy a subscription product and the recurrent payment is controlled by the plugin.

2. Now I need do grant access to to different people and keep track of there time periods. Do I need
https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-memberships/ or and CRED/access make this happen?

Dear jesper,

It depends on how does the plugin "woocommerce-subscriptions" manage user roles, since I do not have a copy of it in my localhost, I can only read their document.

I assume the plugin "woocommerce-subscriptions" manage user roles like this, if a user purchased a subscription, then promote him to a higher user role, for example "Subscriber", if the subscription is outdated, then update the user into another lower user role, for example "Customer".

See the document:
https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/subscriptions/switching-guide/

Screenshot:
https://docs.woocommerce.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/subscription-switch-settings-screenshot.png

The settings "Subscriber Default Role" and "Inactive Subscriber Role".

Then it is easy to grant access to to different people with Access plugin, you just need to setup the privilege for different user roles, see our document:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/setting-access-control/

for example, you can enable "Read" privilege for user role "Subscriber", but disable "Read" privilege for user role "Customer".

I don't think you need other plugins.

Hi Lou

Thank you for the feedback looks like wp-types and the subscription extension will be a good solution. I have asked Woocommerce if the subscription extension promote/demote users based on the bought products – which will be the key element if the integration between woocommerce and wp-types should work.

I will write back if I get an reply.

Best
Jesper
