Hi
A few days ago I moved away from my home to another location about 700km away. Opening my site, instead of the map of my new location, I still see the map of my home area with all markers of user profiles near my home (within 50 km), like I was still at home.
I use Chrome, Brave and Edge. All of them have the position check on "allow" and I cleared all their caches. Chrome and Brave show what above. Edge can't show the map (I see Africa, ok) because it can't find any element (profile) in my new area, even if one exists (I changed its address to one close where I am now). Any clue ?
Thanks
Regards
Nicola

Hello,

Are you using some other cache plugins in your website?
If there is, please try to clear cache of those cache plugins, and test again.

And please make sure you are following our document to setup the distance filter:
https://toolset.com/course-lesson/filtering-and-ordering-map-markers-by-distance/

Hi Luo Yang,
I am not using any caching plugin so far, will consider it when the site will be finished. In my homepage I am calling a traditional view shortcode.
Everything seems to be working fine (map, markers, filters, etc.) except for the map location update issue. I think this could be related to this other ticket you might remember:
https://toolset.com/forums/topic/many-issues-with-map-and-distance-filter-block/
because if I set the browser on "ask" still it doesn't ask me to check for a new position, I never see any message from the browser.
Please let me know.
Thanks
Regards
Nicola

The old ticket you mentioned above is a browser issue, does the same problem occur in Chrome browser?

#2427669

As explained above, in Chrome and Brave I get the map of my old location, in Edge get the Africa map. If it's a browser issue why I don't get the permission message from any browser ? the map should always trigger the permission message if the site isn't registered as an "always allow" site in the browser. Does Toolset Maps use its own cache ? if so it might always use that instead of the current position .... I don't know.
Today I tested Firefox (not used for a long time): the first time I got the permission message and then I got the Africa map. I checked if the site was registered in the "always allow" site list, but it wasn't. The second time (with different user) I didn't get the permission message, but I got the message "You need to allow the browser to detect your position ...").
Please let me know, thanks

BTW - if you send me one or two addresses close to where you live I can change a couple of users address so that you can test the map behaviour

Here is my location: Guiyang, Guizhou, China
Please fill below private message box with your website credentials, thanks

I have tried these in your website:
1) Login into your website
2) Open home page in frontend:
hidden link
I see below error message:
Non è possibile mostrare la mappa poichè non sono stati trovati elementi corrispondenti ai filtri impostati. Rimuovere i filtri per mostrare la mappa generale.

See my screenshot map-location3.JPG
I don't see the problem you mentioned above:
see the map of my home area with all markers of user profiles near your home.

Is there any missing steps?

#2430359

Hi,
there is no screenshot, pls resend.
However, if you see that message it means the no profili have been found so there is nothing to display on the map (the message is misleading becasue it refers to the filters above in case you set some, but this is not the case). How is it possible that you see YOUR home area with my profile markers if they all still have italian addresses ? I am lost !
FYI when I open the site with any user/profili I still see my home area (Milano) with all markers even if I am currently 700kms away !

I have tried again in your website with below steps:
1) Edit one of profile post, for example:
hidden link
in custom address field, change the value from: Via Amendola, 9, Budoni SS, Italia
with my location address: 信濃霧山ダッタンそばレストラン緑の花そば館

2) Open URL:
hidden link
It works fine, I can see only one result of above post, see my screenshot location5.jpg

3) In order to disable the view cache, I have modify the home page:
hidden link
Change the view shortcode from:
[wpv-view name="maps-source"]
To:
[wpv-view name="maps-source" cached="off"]

I suggest you try these:
1) Open official Google map
hidden link
2) Click button "Your location"
make sure it display your location in your current location

ok, great to know that it works for you. For me:
- on my mobile it works, Google Maps shows the right position and Toolset maps works as expected
- on my PC nope, both Google Maps and Toolset Maps show my old position
I checked that in my Windows all positions settings are on or allowed
Actually in this location I am forced to connect to the Internet with the hotspot, could this be the issue ?
thanks

I am using Windows 11 too, there might be some other issue in your computer, you can try another computer, if it is fixed, you might need to reinstall your windows OS again.

Hello Luo Yang,
I still have the issue, but is clear to me now that it has nothing to do with Toolset Maps so I close this ticket. Thank you very much for your support anyways.
