Just looking for an update on OpenStreetMap, or some other open-source API that could be made available in Toolset Maps. I built a couple of larger sites that are heavily dependent upon maps back when the Google Maps API was free, and these clients don't have the budget for it. They'd happily take an open API. Is there any progress on this topic? Thank you.
Hi,
The feature request for an open-source map integration is added to our internal board. However, with the pause on new features ( ref: https://toolset.com/2022/06/whats-next-for-toolset/ ), it wouldn't be possible to share how long it will take.
I see your voice has already been added to this matter and we'll keep you updated through our blog and the errata page.

Waqar, thank you for the reply.
I'm aware of the pause on new features, and specifically because of the pause I was hoping that would free up the developers to integrate an open-source Maps API. Seems to me that this wouldn't be a new feature but rather improving an existing feature.
I recognize that Google changed the game. The Toolset solution works well, but I need to keep my clients' costs down and I also cannot completely rebuild these sites to eliminate the dependence on Toolset Maps.
No need to reply further, I understand your response. I just wish there was something I could do and I don't know what that is.
There is an alternative of switching to the Static Maps API to save cost, but I understand it may not always be feasible or desirable.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other workaround to share, until an integration for an open-source map is officially introduced.
I'm going to mark this ticket as resolved, but you're welcome to start a new one for each new question or concern.
