Did what you suggested, tried both adding the code in the Shortcode block and in the view directly, same result: the message box isn't triggered, I just get the message_when_missing message, please suggest
The page with the map is the homepage
Hi Luo Yang,
UPDATE - I found out that it's is a browser settings related issue. I cleaned site cookies in Chrome and Brave and it works fine. But in Firefox and on my Android mobile it doesn't. I need to investigate further.
Regards
Nicola
Thanks for the update, it is a known issue, our developers are working on it, but I am not sure when will it be fixed, will update here if there is anything news.
Hi,
could you please be more precise on timing ? I've been working 6 months on this website that is all centered on geolocation and now it comes out that it's not working as expected. So I cannot release the site until you release a fix ... when ? days ? months ? years ? if it was just Firefox I could just say "don't use Firefox", not a big deal, but if it doesn't work on Android (and maybe iPhone) that IS a big deal ! I am available to help your devs in testing, etc. if needed.
Please let me know
thanks
I have checked it in our to-do list.
This problem is:
The geolocation [wpv-geolocation] shortcode does not trigger user location permission requests as expected, especially on Safari, Firefox browsers.
I am not sure when will it be fixed, currently, you might need to tell user to avoid using Safari or Firefox browsers.
ok I did some more testing and actually it works on Android/Chrome once all cache and cookies are cleaned. Firefox might not be an issue but Safari could be for iPhone users are many. Please let me know as soon as you can about the fix, thanks
Thanks for the testing, I have marked this thread as "Escalated" status, will update here if there is anything news.
Hi Luo Yang
I found another issue with distance: In a block view I tried to place the distance value of the current post address to the user location. I set the Field and Views block, then selected the Distance Value as field and then set the distance parameters. Ok so far, but when I try to click on the Insert Shortcode button nothing happens, no way to confirm the operation and create the field. Did I miss anything ? Please check the short video here:
hidden link
Same field in a traditional view works ok.
I also noticed that images in block views are resized proportionally while they aren't in a traditional view even though the resize parameter is set to proportional
<div style="border-radius: 50%;">[types field='user-image' title='%%TITLE%%' alt='%%ALT%%' align='center' size='medium' resize='proportional'][/types]</div>
Any clue ? Pls compare images in my homepage (not proportional) with images in test page named aaa (proportional)
thanks

Hello Luo Yang,
do you have any news about what above ? the distance filter in a view block still cannot be saved and this is an issue to me (every time I create a content template with blocks I need to replicate it with HTML if in another view I need to use the distance filter ... lots of extra work as you can imagine).
On the other hand it looks like my site now always asks for the user position as expected, although I need to do more testing on this.
Kind regards
Nicola
