If the requirement is to create a similar slider as you created with the there (is it with this software? hidden link), then the answer should be yes.
In Toolset, you can paginate any content (Users, Taxonomies or Posts), and with this, you can also create sliders:

For Taxonomies, I assume you will show Taxonomy Term Image Fields, you can do that only on Taxonomy Views or WordPress Archive Views that apply to a Taxonomy.

The FlexSlider module can be interesting for you.

Yes, it is possible within Views plugin. You can create a post view, with below:
1) order the result by random order, see screenshot:

In case it is a compatibility problem, please check these in your website:
1) deactivate other plugins and switch to wordpress default theme, and test again
