My client is a University research unit about children's policy - hidden link
They would like a few pages on the website to be private and only available to some committee members with a login.
The pdf's they will be uploading and linking need to also be private - is there a way to make them only available to that logged in group of people?
Hi,
Thank you for contacting us and I'd be happy to assist.
Toolset Access plugin can be used to hide/restrict access to some content (including the link to the downloadable files), as explained in these guides:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/limiting-read-access-specific-content/
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/access-control-texts-inside-page-content/
However, this won't work to restrict access to the actual downloadable files since if a user who has the file's direct link, shares it with others, they will be able to access them too.
If your goal is to enable file-level restrictions then you'll need a dedicated third-party plugin for this. The following article reviews some of the popular options:

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need any further assistance around this.

Thank you. I always get thoughtful intelligent answers from Toolset support.
Will this have any compatibility issues with the DIVI theme?
Thank you for your kind words.
The DIVI is not among the Toolset recommended themes ( ref: https://toolset.com/documentation/recommended-themes/ ) and we do have some compatibility issues open for it ( ref: https://toolset.com/known-issues/?wpv_post_search=divi ).
But, I've seen it in use by a number of Toolset users and you can still choose to use it if you prefer.
( evaluating how much the open issues will affect your particular project )
Thank you for the suggestion. A combination of Toolset for restricting user access pages and Download manager to protect the pdf's.
