I am trying to:
I installed / upgraded the latest Toolset Forms version 2.1.2 and my Post Forms would no longer submit.

After submission, I would get a 404 page. In the URL I do notice that the _tt parameter is there after the LayoutID which I don't think used to be there.

As soon as I reverted back to the previous version of the plugin; the post forms worked correctly.

Hi Mukesh,

Thank you for contacting us and I'll be happy to assist.

Have you checked if the form submission resulted in any new entries in the connected post type, even if it would lead to a 404 page?

Please see if the "After visitors submit this form" action is properly configured for the form and is not pointing to a page that doesn't exist.

In case the issue still persists, I'll suggest following troubleshooting steps:

1. Please update to the Toolset Forms plugin to it's latest version again and make sure that all other plugins are up-to-date as well.

2. See if there are any script errors/warnings recorded in browser's console when viewing the form's front-end or the back-end (admin area).
( ref: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors )

3. Also check the server's error log, for any connected errors or warnings.

4. It would be also interesting to test the form, with all plugins except the Toolset, disabled.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any further information.

regards,
Waqar

Hi Waqar,

The form submission did not result in any new entries. Only showed the 404 page. For my "after visitors submit this form" I have chosen redirect to Home Page. That page exists and it was redirecting fine before the upgrade.

I reverted back to 2.1.1.2 version of the Forms plugin and my forms started working again so I think trying the latest version would be resulting in the same issue. I don't have any other plugins besides a custom Logging plugin that writes to the debug log.

Any other suggestions? I don't think I need any of the new features in the latest Forms plugin but just wanted to inform in case others see the same issue.

Hi Mukesh,

Thanks for the update and for sharing your report.

I couldn't reproduce this issue on my test website and we haven't received any similar report from a different user. This suggests that issue is limited to your website.

Newer plugin versions usually include a number of performance and security improvements, in addition to fixes and new features. This is the reason, it is always recommended to update to the latest versions, as soon as they're available.

My recommendation would be:

1. Using either "Duplicator" ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/ ) or "All-in-One WP Migration" ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/ ) plugin, please make a complete backup/snapshot copy of your website, with Toolset Forms 2.1.1.2 version.

2. Update the Toolset Forms plugin and then check the form again, but while keeping all other non-Toolset plugins disabled.

3. If the issue still persists, restore the website back to the snapshot created in the first step and also share that snapshot in a zip file, so I can troubleshoot accordingly.

You'll probably want to use DropBox, Google Drive, or similar services, as the snapshot file will be quite big.

Note: Remember to create or keep an admin account for me before creating the snapshot, or I won’t be able to log in. You can delete the new admin account once the snapshot has been built.

I will enable your next answer as private so you can provide me the information securely.

Waqar

Hi Waqar

here is the links to the duplicator files:
Installer: hidden link
Archive: hidden link

I've created a user for your toolsetsupport with password: *BmXEOBPu16L8KMFaMsn4(ry

Also on this page: hidden link I have a cred form to update a date for the Referral Post, and I have Submit AJAX Submission turned on, then on the Page I get javascript popup error "There is an error submitting the form" but however the submission updates the Posts on the backend. ANy ideas? This is not related to my original issue with this support ticket however so I can create another ticket if required.

Hi Mukesh,

Thank you for waiting, while I investigated the issue.

Unfortunately, the duplicator package that you shared had some extraction issue, but I was able to reproduce a similar issue with the form on my test website during testing.

After recent Toolset Forms update (2.1.2), a form that is used from inside a layout doesn't submit properly on the first attempt and redirects back to the same page with _tt parameter appended to the URL. If the same form is submitted again, it is properly submitted.
( note: this doesn't affect the form that is set to submit with AJAX )

I've shared these results with the concerned team for further testing. But I couldn't make the form show the 404 page at the time of submission.

This is why I feel it is important to investigate your report in more detail. Would you mind sharing the backup of your website again?
( this time, perhaps you can try a different plugin "All-in-One WP Migration" https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/ )

Your next reply will be private as well.

As per our support policy, only one issue/question can be handled in a ticket. For this reason, I'll request to file a new ticket to share a report about the JavaScript pop-up error.
(it would help if you could share the screenshot of the error or the errors/warnings showing in the browser's console or the login details for the admin area in that ticket)

Hi Mukesh,

Thank you for sharing the backup file and I can now confirm that the forms on your website are affected by the same issue that was discovered and reported last week.

I'm afraid, I don't have a time estimate to share at this time, but you can keep using the 2.1.1.2 version of the Toolset Forms plugin for now.

Will share an update with you, as soon as this is fixed.

Thank you for your patience.

Waqar

Hi Waqar any update on the new Toolset Forms update to fix the issue mentioned above?

#1191768

Hi Mukesh,

This issue is expected to be resolved in the next major release (2.3.1) of Toolset Forms, which is going to include a number of improvements.

I don't have a time estimate to share, but will keep you updated through this ticket.

#1234532

Hi Waqar can you please advise if the Toolset Forms release 2.3.1 has the issue of Forms used inside layouts (this ticket) has been fixed?

#1235389

Hi Mukesh,

Thank you for waiting.

I've performed some tests with the latest Tools Forms ( version 2.3.5 ) and the Toolset Layouts ( Version 2.5.2 ) and this issue no longer seem to be reproducible.

You're welcome to test this and in case you still see the issue, please let me know about the steps used for testing.

regards,
Waqar

Hi Waqar. Unfortunately once I upgrade to the versions you mention, I begin to get the same error again. I have created a Admin user for you on my Test site. Let me know how to post it to you.

Thanks
Mukesh
