[Resolved] Impossible to edit a layout

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: I cannot edit a Layout in wp-admin.

Solution: Deactivate Elementor and Elementor Pro if you want to use Toolset Layouts. Deactivate Layouts if you want to use Elementor and Elementor Pro. The two systems should not be used together.

I am trying to:

update a layout for my custom post type

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:

I expected to see:

the small pen to edit..

Instead, I got:

4 rows to move the visual editor from one row to another.

Hi Maroin,

Thank you for getting in touch.

I suspect that this is being caused by a plugin conflict.

What I recommend that you do is to temporarily disable all the non-toolset plugins and try again.

Once you have done this please let me know if the issue still remains.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi,

I think it's because of Toolset update.
Can you retrograde the Toolset version ? Maybe it will work like that..

Hi Maroin,

Would you mind allowing me to have admin access to the site so that I can have a deeper look at this for you ?

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Maroin,

Would you mind if I grabbed a copy of the site so that I can do some more testing on this ?

So far i'm not seeing any errors on the site that could be causing this error so a more detailed investigation is needed from the duplicator.

Thanks,
Shane

Yes, of course go ahead.
I think it might because of the recent update of Toolset, I have tried on a staging made by someone who's working for me ( hidden link ) :

it's an older version of the website, in which we didn't have the problem.
I have made a full update on this one : hidden link
and just later, I had again the same problems (can't edit a block in a layout, checkbox are weird, etc.

Hi, Shane is on holiday this week so I'm taking a look over his tickets. The main thing I see here is that Elementor and Layouts should never be active on the same site. We recommend you deactivate Toolset Layouts if you plan to use Elementor, and vice versa. Even if you roll back to previous versions of Toolset and Elementor, we suggest you don't use both systems together, and our developers will not resolve issues that arise from having both active at the same time. The two systems will always conflict when determining which should control the overall page design. We have more best practices for using Toolset and Elementor together here: https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/using-toolset-with-elementor-page-builder/

Please deactivate Layouts if you want to use Elementor, or deactivate Elementor if you want to continue to use Layouts. Let me know if you have questions about this, or if deactivating Elementor and Elementor Pro does not fix the issue with editing Layouts.
