Problem:
The issue here is that the user wanted their images to open in a lightbox.
Solution:
What you will need to do is to install a lightbox gallery plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/fancybox-for-wordpress/
The fancybox plugin should turn all your image clicks into a lightbox.
