[Resolved] i deleted cpt-fields but i dont want it..

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that the user accidentally deleted his custom fields from his post group and when trying to recreate the fields he gets a duplicate slug error.

Solution:

The reason for the error is because the group has been deleted but the individual fields have not been. The only way to delete the fields completely is by going to Toolset -> Post Fields -> Post Fields control.

With that said you can restore the fields or reuse the fields by when you are adding the fields to the group you click on the "Choose from previously created fields". You custom fields should be there.

Hi Alex,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

To get this correct, you've already created a group of custom fields but accidentally deleted the group correct?

Now you're trying to recreate the group but its telling you that the slug you are using already exists.

That is because the group has been deleted but the individual fields have not been. The only way to delete the fields completely is by going to Toolset -> Post Fields -> Post Fields control.

With that said you can restore the fields or reuse the fields by when you are adding the fields to the group you click on the "Choose from previously created fields". You custom fields should be there.

Please let me know if this helps.

Hi, yes i deleted a group of fields - but the best way for me is to restore only the group of fields - i want to hold the data for all CPTs that i created before. i dont lost all data.

best regards - alex

Hi Alex,

Once the fields were not permanently removed the data should remain.

All you have to do is to just re-add them using the method I mentioned here : https://toolset.com/forums/topic/i-deleted-cpt-fields-but-i-dont-want-it/#post-617540

Please let me know if this helps or if you're having any issues.

Thanks,
Shane
