Tell us what you are trying to do?
I have just taken over an academic website with over 500 posts and I want to integrate Toolset - so people can use forms to add posts. The existing posts have a Custom Field called 'author' where the names of the writers is entered.

I would like to be able to use this field (and change the name of it) but not sure how to bring it into Toolset.

What is the link to your site?
the new site is under development but the existing site is hidden link

Hello,

I suggest you try these:
Dashboard-> Toolset-> Custom Fields-> Post Fields, click button "Post Field Control", find and enable the specific custom fields
For Toolset Types plugin

Then you will be able to convert those custom fields into Toolset control
