[Resolved] How many addresses can Toolset deal with

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Client is developing a site which will have thousands of posts with address fields that will be used in distance searches. Is Toolset able to handle a site of that size?

Solution:
Yes, since the address storage and distance querying were completely refactored in Maps 1.8 it can handle very large sites (subject to the usual server limitations).

Hi,

I have a custom post type 'location' each with one address.

Each post will display a map with a marker for its address and there will be a map search page based on distance.

I expect to have about 20,000 such locations/addresses. Most will rarely be accessed but can Toolset and WP cope with this number ok?

Thank you

Hi Chris

Prior to Maps 1.8 the answer would have been "not a chance".

However, the address storage and querying was completely refactored in Maps 1.8 to make distance searches viable on very large sites.

When you start to hit very large numbers the quality of your hosting will be important, but Maps itself shouldn't be a barrier.

You can read more in the announcement post here: https://toolset.com/2019/06/toolset-forms-2-4-and-maps-1-8-release/ (scroll down to the section about Maps).
