Thank you.

Hoping to accomplish, at least something during the next 24-48 hours.

I understand the "Profile Page" template I created can apply to any or in this project case, all custom post types. However, I'm confused as to how to integrate the Homepage into the wp-types and views. However is the Homepage (which wouldn't be linked to a post type), display content?

#623342

It depends on the configuration you have selected for the home page in Settings > Reading. It can either display your latest posts, or it can display a static page.
- If it's set to show your latest posts, you can create a Toolset WordPress Archive and assign it to the Home/Blog archive. This will allow you to design the home page using a WordPress Archive. In this case, the Home page is considered an archive of posts.
- If it's set to show a static page, then you can create a specific Content Template for this page. In this case the homepage is considered a page.

Thank you for that input.

Are there any known benefits to posting as a blog archive with search optimization or social media connectivity, as opposed to a static page?

Can I open the template and add a "Text Module" to display a related search Post Slider, as shown in the attached screenshot?

SEO is a broad subject, so there's no way for me to say one way or the other which is better for what you're trying to accomplish. These two approaches offer different things. In general a static homepage does not include excerpts of your latest posts, but it can include more general information about who you are and what you do. A homepage that shows your latest posts includes links into your site that can be crawled more easily by search engines, but may not include more general information about your site.

As far as social media connectivity, I'm not sure what you're referring to. Are you asking about how easy it is to add "Like" and "Share" and "Tweet" icons and so forth to your site? WordPress doesn't come with those, so you would have to add a 3rd-party plugin to use those Social Sharing features. There are tons of those plugins that work in different ways, so I'm not really the best source of information about them.

On the existing site, I have a plugin called Easy Social Share Buttons, which can be seen in the upper right corner of the screenshot below. The links post the page's unique URL to social media networks and linked in an email.

I assume I can place those same shortcode links in a Text Module in the Toolset template to maintain a similar function?

Also, please notice the small red box in the same screenshot. I placed a Text Module in the lower right column of the template that I hope will all for the display of a small "Related Search Results" gallery of some sort.

Again, I'm not the best source of information about another plugin. This is something you should ask the developers of the social sharing plugin. They may offer a shortcode you use to place the sharing icons anywhere, or their software may automatically insert the icons somehow. If they offer a shortcode you can use anywhere, then you can probably add that to a Text Module in your template.

That sounds like a View filtered by a taxonomy, or by some other relevant criteria. If you need assistance creating a View of related results, please open a new ticket. I have concerns about content placement in the single-column mobile display compared to the current Content Layout for the pages. In such cases, Divi allows for the duplication of a Section where the source and cloned sections can be disabled on a desktop, tablet, and mobile. This enables me to achieve an entirely unique mobile-content module configuration.

With such a multi-section page set-up, if a Toolset shortcode was entered in a Text Module of an original section to display a block of content, and that section was duplicated, on the first the mobile is disabled and the on the second desktop and tablet are disabled, I should achieve a unique layout for the same content on mobile.

The question is, with such a configuration, would both Section layouts update with Toolset using a single content form update submission?

UPDATE: Divi provided custom CSS for "max-height" which I have not tested yet until I complete the basic Toolset set-up. Once I do, I will post it here in case anyone can find it useful.

You can use the same Toolset shortcode in multiple places on your site. If the Toolset shortcode points to the same post ID in both places, then both instances will be updated when someone manages content on the front-end with CRED.

Hi,

I'm having difficulty integrating the Homepage and Profile template pages into views. I've used only Text and Button modules. I would appreciate it if you could please point out the next few steps?

Hi, if I can take a look in your wp-admin area I may be able to offer some advice. Please provide login credentials here in the private reply fields.

I'm having difficulty integrating the Homepage and Profile template pages into views.
Okay so it looks like you have chosen a static Page to be displayed for the homepage. To use Views to recreate the design from Divi Builder, the general idea is that you will create a View that shows everything here, then insert this View into the Page using a Text Module in the Divi Builder. So everything you see in the Full-width section module will go away and be replaced with a Text Module containing the View. The View will include all the related information about the featured post. You can use the Divi Builder to create a Content Template for this View, if you'd like.

The View must be filtered somehow, so that the correct item is shown. I'm not quite clear how you want to specify which item is featured. If you want your clients to be able to manage this from the front-end, you probably need to use a "checkbox" custom field on the CPTs that indicates whether or not each post is "featured". Someone could edit the posts with CRED, check the featured checkbox in the correct post, and uncheck the checkbox in the old post, to change which post is currently featured on the homepage.

If it's not important this is managed with CRED on the front-end of the site, you can use a shortcode attribute to specify a post ID filter. I can explain that in more detail, but I am under the impression that this must be managed on the front-end of the site with CRED.

I also attempted to set-up Archives. However, I am not sure the roll Archive pages will have
Feel free to create a separate ticket for this question. Our policy is to limit each ticket to one issue, and I would prefer to focus on the homepage here.

Hi,

Yes, you are correct that my objective is to make the site as Front-end manageable as possible. Regarding your last reply on the Home page, The static page that you viewed as an older version and it's replacement has since taken its place and is built using a Specialty Section, instead of a fullwidth section. Screenshot attached.

The nodules are Text and Button. I believe the "View for Pages" link in the "Views" section above, was created in error.

To complete the page and view set-up, will I need to change the "Specialty Section" configuration?

"..... If you want your clients to be able to manage this from the front-end, you probably need to use a "checkbox" custom field on the CPTs that indicates whether or not each post is "featured". The client will want to Log-In to a front-end form and add content to populate the following Profile Page for a new painting, ecollage, and/or collage: hidden link this is how the "Featured Image" and specifications are added to the site.

NOTE: I've opened a new ticket regarding Views because I am confused as to the roles of the above Profile Page and an Archive page in a search.

With regard to how the Home Page: hidden link is managed, a Featured Profile will be posted by the client as needed, from the front-end

A. A Featured Image
B. Title
C. Button "View Details" linked to the Profile Page for the featured item
D. Button to open the search form
E. Link to static bio page (which itself should be editable by a front-end form)
F. Link to a pop-up Contact form

This Featured Profile content should be posted to the Home page, if possible, by the following two options:

1. The client can select to post a new Featured Profile at the point when a new item is first added to the site by populating the fields of a front-end Form. When the Form is submitted, if it had been indicated as new Featured Image, hopefully, the existing featured image would be over-written.

2. The client can perform a search for an existing item and from the Profile Page of that item, the client can hopefully Log-in to edit the existing page and be provided with the option to post that item as the new Featured Image.

If possible, anytime a new item is posted as the Featured Profile, the existing profile on the Home page will be over-written by the new post.
