Thanks for the screenshot, but it is not clear what code was in the file and where was the new code placed.
Note: You can temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Seventeen and try adding the PHP code in it, to see if it works.
As per our support policy ( https://toolset.com/toolset-support-policy/ ), we can't provide support around the code available in the third-party theme. But if the issue seems to be limited only to the "Classipress", theme it would be best to consult their official support team, to learn about the best approach for adding the PHP based theme customizations.
