My site has a custom post type called AUTHORS and a child post type called AUTHOR BOOKS. I have set up fields for both of these, and the idea is that each AUTHOR can enter information about multiple books they have written.

I need each author to be able to create this post from the front end, and then also edit it whenever they like. I can create a form for the author to be able to edit their AUTHOR post, but how do I also embed the AUTHOR BOOKS part in that front end form, so that they can add as many books as they wish?

You can not edit a Child Post in a Parent Post CRED Form.
This is something we are working on to make it better and more intuitive, but right now, you can only add a parent to a child post, when you create the Child post, or add a Child Post from within the parent Post (when you view it on the Front End)

This is explained here:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/cred-forms-for-child-content/

What you could do is add Links to the Child Posts inside of the Parent Post, this could be done with Views:
