Title should read: Framework Installer enabled causes website to NOT load (or be very slow)
I've disabled Framework Installer, and the issue is resolved, but as other threads in the Toolset forums have said in the past, the web server hosting the Reference Sites is very slow. Currently, it has taken close to 5+ minutes for these two links to load:
This started around 7/7:30pm ET on November 20, 2021. On one of our production websites, this Framework Installer plugin was enabled, and the website would not load, repeating leading to a 504 Gateway Timeout. We hadn't changed on the site, but after some snooping around in our logs and seeing errors that matched the other threads in your Toolset forums, I realized what was happening. See here: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/toolset-framework-installer-causing-an-issue/
I understand now that this plugin doesn't need to be on all the time, but I would highly recommend rethinking how/when it polls external sites. Leaving this plugin on shouldn't cause front-end access (and even back-end access, outside of the update/installer section) to rely on external websites.
Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.
Yes - I can confirm that the site on discover-wp.com loads very slow. Please allow me to consult our Devs and check with them whats going wrong with the setup.
Thanks - yes because that demo site is operating normally again, when we have 'Toolset Framework Installer' enabled on our sites, there is no longer a very long delay to load.
Can something be done to fix this in the plugin? I mean, we will just leave the plugin disabled, but surely having it enabled shouldn't force external requests to the Toolset demo site, even when the front-end of another site is being visited by users?
You will require to understand first that the framework installer plugin only required and you should activate when you want to install the reference sites otherwise its not required. So you can either deactivate or delete it.
There was an temporary issue and that has been already fixed.
