Hello,

I have a View Block that I've set up the way I want. I now want to make copies of that block and change the filter for it.

So, for example, I have a View block "Board of Education" and I want the same block layout but for "Town Council" - and I want the block on the same page.

I think I am looking for something like "Edit as copy" but I can't find where that is.

This is from the support forum: "To duplicate a Views Block you will need to first create a new page where you want to add this view then insert the view on that page. Instead of selecting edit as original, you will select edit as copy. This will create a copy of your original view and allow you to edit this new view independently."

Where is the "Edit as copy" option for view blocks.

Page with view I want to duplicate and change: hidden link

Thanks!

- Peter

I found this (see below), but when I've added the view block, I don't see an option to edit as original or copy. Perhaps a screen capture?

https://toolset.com/forums/topic/how-duplicate-a-blocks-view-in-toolset-types/

"The correct way to do this is by going to the page that you want to have the copy and add the view block to the page.

When you've added the view block and selected your view it will ask if you want to Edit view as the Original or Edit as a copy. Select Edit as a copy and it will create a new instance of your original view that you can edit independently of the original."

I just checked in case there was a problem inserting a View on the same page again, but it works the same as when inserting it on a different page.

Assuming you created the original View with a View block (and didn't create a View with the legacy editor and insert that using a View block), then when you add a View block on the page and choose an existing View to use, then you should see something like what's shown in the screenshot, which is where you get to choose whether to edit the original View or edit a copy.

Do you not see the same?

So I did figure out what you mention prior to getting your instructions.

It's both clunk and doesn't work as I was expecting / hoping. The copy loses its formatting and the query needs to be changed, so unfortunately the process of copying a View block with the hope of just changing the query is kind of pointless. Hopefully there will be an improvement in the future.

Not working as I expected, but does work as currently intended. Thanks.
