Hi,

how can I duplicate a Post Fields Group that I've just created for a new Custom Post Type?
I don't mean to associate an existing Post Field Group to another Custom Post Type, but to duplicate the Group and associate to a new Custom Post Type.
(maybe with new name with a prefix or suffix)

Is it possible? How?

Thank you

Regards
Alex

Hello Alex, and thank you for contacting Toolset support.

There is not such a feature as duplicating a Fields Group. You will need to create a new Fields Group.

However, you can reuse the same custom fields in multiple field groups. When adding a custom field, you can choose from previously created fields. Check this screenshot hidden link

I hope this answers your request. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Jamal

I've tryed to choose previously created fields but the system doesn't show me anything.
Is it possible to extract the fields and import them again?
or duplicate some data in database changing a value to link new records to another custom type?

Regards
Alex

Are you talking about post fields, user fields, or term fields? Can you record a short video so I can try to reproduce the same on my test site?

Is it possible to extract the fields and import them again?
I think yes, but you will have to edit the exported file manually, to change the Fields Group name and slug. However, this is not a supported feature.

Updating the database manually is not supported too. Please take a database backup before updating the database manually, this way you can recover it to a working state if issues arise.

I am sorry, but the few details that you provide are not clear for me to help you efficiently. Can you provide a detailed explanation of what you want to do?
- What types of fields (Post fields, User fields, Term fields).
- Where do you want to reuse them? (Post fields, User fields, Term fields)?

Can you send me in what tables and what fields I've to change?

Can you provide a detailed explanation of what you want to do?
As you can see in the attached file I've a long list of Custom Post Fields (STP Utenti).
I use them in a Custom Post Type (Anagrafica Utenti).
I want to replicate this Custom Post Fields to another Post Type (Anagrafica Praticanti).

Post fields

- Where do you want to reuse them? (Post fields, User fields, Term fields)?
Post fields

Would you allow me temporary access to check this? It should work, if it does not, there is an issue we should debug.

Can you send me in what tables and what fields I've to change?
I am sorry, we don't have any documentation about it. Most probably, it is stored in the options table.

I want to replicate this Custom Post Fields to another Post Type (Anagrafica Praticanti).
What about assigning the same Fields Group to the other post type. Check this screenshot hidden link

Yes sure

What about assigning the same Fields Group to the other post type. Check this screenshot
I know it, I've tried, but I've this message "The Post Type of this Field Group cannot be changed as long as a Repeatable Group or a Post Reference field is used."
That's why I would find a way to duplicate this fields

#2107633

Well, by design, you cannot reuse the same Repeatable Group or the same Post Reference field in other post types. There is nothing more that can be done.

You may want to create separate Fields Groups, group the Reference fields and the Repeatable Group in one Field Group, and group the regular fields in another Field group. This later can be assigned to multiple post types.
