I am reviewing information on this website: hidden link and I was wondering if the way toolset stores information is likely compatible with the way this plugins works? I am looking for easier ways to be able to build new features and content types into a WordPress staging area with complete content, but still allowing my editors and authors to add new content to the production site. With a tool like this I believe I can do my developing and content creation in staging and then use this tool to bring over any changes from production and then make the staging site live. Can you agree with that? Or do you have an alternate suggestion on how to handle this issue. As far as I can tell this for me is the weakest part of using toolset instead of building plugins.
Thanks,
Hi Jonathon,
Thank you for contacting us and I'll be happy to assist.
We haven't received any incompatibility reports with "WPSiteSync", but plugin's official website doesn't mention that it is designed to be compatible with Toolset or offers a dedicated extension for it.

To get most accurate and up-to-date information about a third-party plugin's compatibility and features, I'll recommend consulting its official support.
In our tests and experience, we've seen following two plugins perform well to successfully migrate everything (including Toolset related data and functionalities) from one website/server to another:
1. Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin
https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
2. All-in-One WP Migration
https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/
I hope this helps.

Waqar
Yes, I can confirm that the sync plugin will not do what I need to do and neither will the two plugins you mentioned. I am not looking to backup and restore, but I am trying to find a safe and easier way to transition an existing websites custom post types into ones I am creating with Toolset without losing data.
Hi Jonathon,
Thank you for clarifying that.
I haven't come across any plugin that can be used to keep the selective data in sync between the two websites this way, especially when the structure doesn't match.
But you can use content import/export plugins to transition the data from your production website, into the staging website when it is ready and then map the custom fields data to the new fields.
Once the staging website is ready with all the data and the new structure, you can move it as a whole to the production.
Here is our guide, which reviews the process through different import/export plugins:
