[Resolved] Display Post number

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that the user wanted to display the index number of a post in a view loop.

Solution:
There is a way to do this using the [wpv-loop-index] shortcode.
https://toolset.com/documentation/programmer-reference/views/views-shortcodes/#vf-1195331

How this works is that it displays the current loop index of the item being displayed. The only thing that you will need to do is to sort your view based on some sortable attribute to ensure that the first item that displays is actually episode 1.

I have a list of posts in a view. I want to display an incremental number on each post (to serve as an episode number)

I can't use something like the post ID because there will be other post types and posts will also get deleted which would throw the sequence out. I can't add a custom field and manually add the number as there may be 100s of episodes and i will also be pulling into different views which could throw the sequence out.

So is there a way to add an incremental number to posts in a view like this?

1
2
3
4
5

Thanks!

Hi Stewart,

Thank you for getting in touch.

There is a way to do this using the [wpv-loop-index] shortcode.

Please let me know if this helps.
