Hi - Having the custom search and the default WordPress archive is redundant and would be confusing with the active Category links visible in custom search areas that directed to the archives.

In a case such as this, what would be a good recommendation on disabling the archive or at least transforming the links into inactive text?

Hi - I need to update this ticket regarding a domain change for the project previously know as jayzerbe.sitevenu.net which is now hidden link

Hi Charles,

Thanks for asking! I'd be happy to help.

To make default WordPress archives (or any other pages) inaccessible for visitors, you can add 301 redirection rules to move visitors to more desired pages instead.

Here is a useful guide on adding redirections:
hidden link

To remove certain links from your views or content, please share the link to a page where it can be seen along with a screenshot and I'll be able in a better position to guide you on how to remove or hide them.

Waqar

Waqar,

Thank you for this information on redirect. It may come is useful at some point but the following screenshots show three pages where we would prefer to have the links deactivated.

Because of the amazing custom search you and your colleagues were able to help me create, we have no need to display the default archive and prefer not to confuse the visitor.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for sharing these screenshots, I apologize for not able to follow up on this sooner.

1. The "Painting On Canvas" link on the homepage is coming from the content template named "Loop item in Homepage view".
( hidden link )

You can remove its shortcode from the block shown in this screenshot:
hidden link

2. The category information shown on single product pages ( e.g. hidden link ), is being shown through the content template named "Content Template for Work Product Page".
( hidden link )

It can be edited or removed through the block shown in this screenshot:
hidden link

3. The category link that is available in the search results is part of the content template named "Loop item in Single Product List Entry".
( hidden link )

You can remove it by removing the shortcode "{!{wpv-post-taxonomy type="product_cat"}!}" from the block shown in this screenshot:
hidden link

I hope this helps.

regards,
Waqar

Hi Waqar,

Thank you for following up but there must have been a misunderstanding. I know where the shortcodes are located and how to remove them. I do not want to move them. I need them to display as text elements indicating the category of the work featured.

We asked if the links can be deactivated as "Links" but not removed them.

Can the links be used as static category titles?

We simply want them to show, but not be clickable.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for writing back and for clearing that up.

To turn those category links into a regular name text, you can update shortcode from:

{!{wpv-post-taxonomy type="product_cat"}!}

To:

{!{wpv-post-taxonomy type="product_cat" format="name"}!}

The details about this shortcode's attributes are available at:
https://toolset.com/documentation/user-guides/views-shortcodes/#vf-153472

Note: the homepage is already using that shortcode to show the "Painting On Canvas" as a name without a link. But the mouse cursor changes its appearance to a pointer, once it hovers over the content area. This can make you believe that the title "theRiverOfConsciousness" and the text "Painting On Canvas", are links when they're not.

You can consult Divi builder's documentation or support team to remove those pointer styles, to avoid that.

regards,
Waqar
