I'm trying to brain storm on best way to structure a fairly simple directory site. This will feature music venues, bands/artists and events calendar and music fan blog/reviews/articles about local bands/venues/events.
The venues I might create myself as they wont be that many in the area but would be nice to allow an account to take over the Venue listing once I confirm their identity,.
My main issue is how to structure the roles on the site. I'm thinking when people sign up they can select to either be a
band/artist/venue/promoter
or
music lover.
I'm mostly stuck on whether when a user signs up and selects a role of band/artist I allow them to crate separate custom post types post for Band and Musician and have their main WP profile as a separate entity or use their main profile as the artists profile and only allow them the creation of Band post type only besides the music lover post types. Since I'll allow Music Lover users to create reviews/articles/etc forcing the Musician profile to stay as the artist would make their replies to other posts or new posts created by them as the Musician but if they were allowed to create a separate Music post as their Musician profiled it might get confusing when they make replies to other posts on the site.
Any suggestions on how to structure this would be appreciated.
Alternatively - you can use http://www.discover-wp.com and use any of our reference site that is build on top using Toolset features.
This will allow you to create a test site or our free test platform and play with it:
I suggest you can follow all this and try to play with it and check what will be the best structure for you that suits best as per your requirements and then you can go ahead with that.
