[Resolved] Could not copy file – when trying to update Types to 3.0.1

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

The issue here is that the user is trying to update their Types plugin but they are getting errors.

Solution:

In this case I would recommend a manual install by download the plugin from our downloads page and upload it using ftp.

Could not copy file.png

I am trying to: update Toolset Types from 2.3.2 to 3.0.1

I get this error message:
Could not copy file. (types/vendor/toolset/types/embedded/locale/types-vi.mo)

I then try to manually upload by deleting the plugin folder at wp-content/plugins/types. Then, downloading the Types plugin zip file from wp-types.com/account/downloads, and installing it in wp-admin using Plugins > Add New

I then get the message.
The link you followed has expired.

Please try again.

I've tried numerous times, but just can't seem to update types.

Hi Lindsay,

Thank you for contacting our support forum.

I tried to log in using FTP to try uploading the plugin manually but the ftp isn't working.
Would you mind checking for me and let me know if it works?

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Lindsay,

I was looking for the wp-config.php file to enable the wordpress debuggingbut it doesn't seem to be there in the directory.

The reason is because I uploaded the types plugin but I got an error 500 the moment I enabled it so I wanted to enable the wordpress debugging to see if I could figure out whats wrong.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi, you can find it in the root.

I've set to true for you: define('WP_DEBUG', true);

Many thanks....

Hi Shane

Many thanks.

Was there a specific issue with this site (I have a few more to update to 3)?

Is there anything I should have done\should do for other sites?

Best wishes, Lins

Hi Lindsay,

Actually no as all I did was to upload the plugin manually and it work.

If the upload is incomplete or anything happens during the upload there could be a fatal error when you activate it, which is what happened to me as the upload was complete.

Thanks,
Shane
