This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The issue here is that the divi builder on the user's content template is not loading.
Solution:
In this user's case all that was needed is to remove the content template and re-create it and the builder started to work again.

I am trying to: Create a content template using the Divi Builder Option

I expected to see: The Divi Builder for me to build the content template. This worked previously to WP 5.0 update and Gutenberg installation.
Instead, I got: The default WYSIWYG with the Divi Builder shortcodes. I had duplicated a previous content template that was built when the Divi Builder option was working - prior to 5.0 update.
