I am trying to:Define a new custom post type in Toolset

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:

I expected to see:Successfully saving the new custom post type

Instead, I got:A spinning wheel. Deactivating the Rank Math SEO Pro plugin resolves the issue. The base Rank Math SEO plugin still active.

Hi, I understand you are having trouble creating a custom post type when the Rank Math SEO plugin is active (I assume this is the plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/seo-by-rank-math/)
I installed the plugin in my local test site and I was able to create a new custom post type "Rank" successfully (see the attached screenshot showing the post type I created). There must be something unknown that is different between our tests. Can you try these troubleshooting steps?
- Please tell me the post type name and slug you are trying to create, so I can try to create an identical post type in my local environment.
- Please test a different post type name and slug, to see if the problem is specific to the post type you are trying to create, or if the problem occurs for all new custom post types.
- Please open the browser JavaScript console, refresh the page, and try again. If any JavaScript errors appear in the browser console, please copy + paste them in your next reply.
- Please temporarily activate a default theme like Twenty Twenty, deactivate any custom code snippets in Toolset > Settings > Custom Code, and deactivate all plugins except Types and Rank Math SEO. Try creating a custom post type again, and let me know the results.

I will review your findings and give you some feedback. Thank you!

Hi Christian,

Thanks for reaching out on a Sunday. NO - we have no problem with the base Rank Math SEO plugin that you testet. Problem is with the extra Rank Math SEO PRO add-on plugin that installs on top of the base plugin.

You can see it described here: hidden link

I can send you the install ZIP-file and also a copy of our license just for your testing.

Can you advice a way to do that.

Best regards,

Okay I see, I will need access to that Pro plugin for testing. You can upload a zip file to Dropbox or Drive and post a link to download the archive here in the forum. URLs you share are hidden for your privacy, so they will not be visible to anyone other than you and the support team. Once I have downloaded the archive, I will let you know so you can delete it permanently for security.

Hi Christian,

Here are a link to the ZIP-file. Please let me know that download is OK. Shared from iCloud:

Don't recall of you need my login credentials at RankMath.com. There is no license code as such.

Let me know if needed.

I have downloaded the archive file and you can now delete it from iCloud. I'll run some tests and give you an update later today.

I activated both the base plugin and the pro version, but I still did not experience an error. Can you take a screenshot or screenshots of the entire Post Type editor page so I can see how your post type is configured? Please open all the panels on the page so I can see your settings for Options, Labels, etc. Here is a full screen capture showing the post type I have created successfully.

Hi Christian,

My first WP appliance with problems is hosted on Siteground. To make sure, I have now created a second appliance on a Cloudways server. Problem still exists.

Please see for yourself by logging into this second instance:

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Okay I can see the error on your Cloudways site, but I'm still not able to replicate it locally. It must not occur until the Pro account is activated and configured as it is set up on your test site. Are you able to provide the login credentials necessary to connect the Pro account? Since it's a paid plugin I don't have the ability to activate it locally for testing.

#1846383

Okay I was able to replicate the problem after activating the Pro plugin using those credentials. I'm finished testing on the local site I registered as clean.test:8890, so you can delete that one if necessary from your Pro plugin control panel. Our 2nd tier support team will need to debug as well. I'll pass along the credentials to them so they can register their own local site for testing and let you know what I find out.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for verifying and escalating the issue. I look forward to hearing news on a solution.

For now, the only solution I'm aware of is to temporarily disable the pro plugin while you add or edit post types. However, I suspect this issue may have farther reaching ramifications in other Toolset-related admin screens, so you may find that there are other issues in wp-admin when editing Toolset-specific information. We addressed another similar issue elsewhere in wp-admin, but it turns out the problem was more extensive than we previously understood:
https://toolset.com/forums/topic/toolset-conflict-with-rankmath-seo-plugin/

I'll keep you up-to-date as I receive more information from the developers.

Hello, after testing again with recently-updated Rank Math Pro plugins, our developers have been unable to replicate the problem. Are you still experiencing the problem after updating to the latest versions of Toolset and Rank Math plugins? If so I may need to take a closer look because we are having trouble seeing the same issues now.
