Hi 🙂

I am trying to add category search to the blog page.
This is a long story and I don't remember much of what we've gone through, and I've had issues with copying the site, I think you have an admin login still, I can't recall right now, why you were'nt able to create the duplicator package, and I couldn't because the site is too big, and I'm not sure what to include or exclude from the package.

Unfortunately I'm inbetween multiple surgeries and I'm gone for a long time after each. Problem right now, I can't find heads or tales in this, I need to find out where to go from here. Rather, how to start over, to look at this from right now, as a new issue.

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
hidden link
It only shows the "first item" named "alle kategorier(all categories)". I've tried both dropdowns, checkboxes etc., so that's not related.

The blog post wordpress archive has this code in the search/filter section

[wpv-control-post-taxonomy taxonomy="category" type="radios" default_label="Alle kategorier" url_param="wpv-category"]

I expected to see:
look at this attached images, at some point the filters were visible, then some time went by, and it only displayed the default item, all category items disapeared. Images are named as described.

I really hope you can understand something in this mess.

Have a nice day, best regards
Lykke

Hi Lykke

I'm sorry if you've spent a lot of time going round in circles on this, the explanation is—I think—fairly simple, namely that there is a bug with radio filter controls at the moment preventing them from being displayed.

In this erratum you'll find a patch you can apply, although it should be fixed in an upcoming release of Views expected within the next few days: https://toolset.com/errata/frontend-sorting-controls-can-not-be-displayed-as-radio-inputs/

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for replying quickly 🙂

I updated and then uploaded the patch. It didn't solve my problem.

I used to have checkboxed, I've tried both checkboxes, dropdown and now radio buttons, every time, the items aren't showing.

Thanks and regards
Lykke

OK, if it is not specific to radio buttons then it must be something else.

Can I get access to your site to take a look?

Let me mark your next reply as private so that I can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for me to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.

Hi Nigel,

Thank you, I know there're errors, but I've also deactived all plugins and tried default wp theme, the issue was still there, just to exclude this right away.

I forgot the checkbox to agree to the terms, I agree.

Best regards
Lykke

I couldn't see anything obvious so I've taken a copy of your site to install locally so that I can take a deeper look, and I'll get back to you before too long.

I'm not sure how deactivating all the plugins didn't help, because it's what I had to do on my copy of your site to get this working, and I was eventually able to track it down to a conflict with the Popup Maker plugin. De-activating that alone fixes the problem.

I tried to reproduce on my own test site with a copy of the plugin and I was unable to.

It seemed familiar and I searched through older posts, and found it was actually you who reported the same previously, and we arrived at this same place.

I had passed it to my colleague Beda, who did some further digging and narrowed it down to particular pop-ups that were the issue.

I see that you didn't follow up on his suggestions.

Before going any further, can you review the reply he gave at the time and see if that helps: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/category-filter-in-blog-archive-page/#post-1340293

You're completely right, I forgot.. it's the popupmaker plugin.

I fixed the span back then, and I tried everything he said with the popups. But then I had to make changes to the popups so that his copy wasn't current. I tried the same solution a few times without luck.

That was just before my birthday, I always go travelling and right after I had my first surgery, and then that brings us back to now. I'm trying to get everything in order before next surgery.

That solution still hasn't been successful for me, not on this live site either, and I'm not sure I can manage without popup maker at the moment.

Is there any other way, except removing popop maker?

As I recall, the problem wasn't with all of the pop-ups on the site, according to Beda's investigations it was due to several of them, but then he couldn't find those same several pop-ups on the live version of your site.

To resume looking into this, are you able to create a staging site with a duplicate of the live site to be able to pick up where we left off?
