[Resolved] Can’t activate CRED because of an error on line 102

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Client is unable to update CRED because of a fatal error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/themaa/new/www/wp-content/plugins/cred-frontend-editor/application/controllers/main.php on line 102

Solution:
The client was using an old version of WordPress. Updating to the current WordPress resolved the issue.

I am trying to:
activate Cred, recently updated

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
CRED is now offline

I expected to see:
CRED was activated

Instead, I got:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/themaa/new/www/wp-content/plugins/cred-frontend-editor/application/controllers/main.php on line 102

I have WP 4.7.8 with the latest Toolset components

Hi there

Toolset updates are intended for use with the current WordPress version.

They will normally work with versions a few releases behind the current version, but I would say the most likely explanation for the error you are seeing is that you are on a WordPress install.

Can you update your WordPress to the current version and try again?

If you are not able to then it may be that you will have to continue using an older version of CRED.

You can perform one other check with WP 4.7.8.

Try disabling all other plugins except Toolset plugins, and switch theme to twentyseventeen. Are you then able to activate CRED? If so it means a conflict with your theme or another plugin rather than with the old version of WordPress, in which case if you let me know I'll investigate further.

Thanks Nigel,

I was anxious to update (WP + PHP) but I did it and all went smoothly for the moment…

Thanks
