I've had a few Templates over the years using Image Sliders and they were fine until a couple months ago, when I discovered that I can't edit some of those Templates, as my browser would crash. After some back and forth with Toolset Support it was determined that the culprit was the Image Slider and the easy fix was to use phpMyAdmin, find the template and delete the code containing the Slider.

However, when attempting to create a new Slider, the whole section with the configuration was missing. It was possible to save the Template, but when attempting to Edit it later, it crashed again.

The problem? Toolset picks up existing posts for dynamic content (your 'View with' drop-down at the top) and normally for a particular non-existing content the Template shows a 'This dynamic source returned no content' message, but that DOES NOT work for the Image Slider and the whole Template crashes.

The workaround: the post your Template is working with NEEDS temporary images for the Template to open at all. If it's a new Slider to an existing Template, you still need images for the configuration options to appear. You may simply select an existing post WITH IMAGES from the 'View with' drop-down, but if none of the Toolset selected post choices contain images (wish we could search for particular post), you'll need to go with the temporary images approach. Once you configure the Slider and save the Template, you can delete the temporary images and you will be fine re-opening the Template, even if the post does not contain images (see attached image).

Hopes this saves months of troubleshooting to at last 1 person out there. I believe this is a bug that will hopefully be fixed. It's also entirely possible that it's a problem specific to my site, in which case you probably didn't need to come across this post at all.

Hello there,

Before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process.

Thank you for sharing the details of your experience and the workaround you've discovered. We acknowledge the issue you've encountered with the Image Slider and its impact on your templates.

To better understand and resolve this problem, we would like to perform additional tests. Could you please provide us with access to your site? This will help us investigate further and work towards a permanent solution.

Given that, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
