Ben

I have read on the forums that inclusion for Bootstrap 4 is the on the way, but is there any idea of rough ETA for this?

I would like to know if we are talking weeks, months, or 3+ months etc.

Thank you!

Hi Ben,

Thank you for contacting us and I'll be happy to assist.

Your understanding is correct and our development team is working on including the support for Bootstrap 4.

Unfortunately, we don't have a time estimate to share at this point, but I'll update you through this ticket, as soon as there is some news.

Thank you for your patience.

regards,
Waqar.

Hi Ben,

Following up to my earlier message, I'd also like to add that we've recently introduced a new feature request form that goes directly to the product management team:
https://toolset.com/home/contact-us/suggest-a-new-feature-for-toolset/

Your direct voice through the form should help in accelerating the work on the Bootstrap 4 support.

regards,
Waqar

Ben

Thank you for your responses Waqar.

I have submitted my response through that new feature request form to.

This is becoming a bit frustrating now as Bootstrap 4 will have been stable for a year in January. I am unsure of whether to design elements I need now using Bootstrap 3 for the time being, or whether just to wait. I don't want to waste time and have to redesign all again if the wait for Bootstrap 4 is only a matter of weeks.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the update and for filing a feature request.

I can understand the frustration, but upgrading something so fundamental requires a lot of testing and special care to keep everything consistent in terms of backward compatibility. I'm sure your voice will add up to the urgency of the matter.

If you'd like to start using Bootstrap 4 now, you can choose to disable loading of Bootstrap resources from WP Admin -> Toolset -> Settings -> General.
( you'll see the option "This site is not using Bootstrap CSS" )

Once that option is set, you can load the Bootstrap 4 resources manually from the theme and adjust your markup code accordingly.

As result, once Bootstrap 4 support will become available in Toolset, you won't have to redesign everything, from all over again.

regards and a Happy New Year,
Waqar

Ben

Thank you Waqar! A Happy New Year to you to!

I'm sure there is a lot of testing and effort that goes into these things, much more than I understand anyway!

You mention that I can use Bootstrap 4 now, I might have a test on a staging site and see what the results are. How do I load Bootstrap 4 resources manually from the theme and adjust the markup code? I have never done anything like this before.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for writing back and for your understanding.

To integrate the latest Bootstrap 4 into the theme you'll download the files from its official website ( hidden link ) and then make them load through the active theme.

I'd like to upvote this and have submitted the feature request. Bootstrap 4 makes it far easier to vertically center text in a block.
