This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
Update a page using Layouts: there was an error during the ajax request, make sure the data you send are in json format.
Solution:
It is abnormal, do you see any JS errors in the console window of your browser?
in case it is a compatibility problem, please try this:
1) deactivate other plugins and switch to wordpress default theme, and test again
2) The client have fixed it by:
update to "instagram-feed-wordpress-gallery" plugin
