I have an idea for a review directory where people enter an item they own and their rating/review of the item. Others can then add their ratings/reviews as well on the same item.

My concern is duplicate entries of the same item. If an item is already in the system then the user can just then add their review to it. Otherwise, they create a new item to be reviewed.

Is this easily accomplished using toolset? Any tutorials or examples that I may use to get started?

Hello,

There isn't such kind of feature within Toolset.

For example, by default, if there is already a post with post title "Post A", when user add a new post with the same title "Post A", WordPress will still add the new post with same title but different post slug, for example "post-a-2".

In your case, you might consider custom codes or other plugin, for example:
