CRED 1.3 and Types 1.6 First Betas

   Amir

June 10, 2014

We’ve just released first beta versions of CRED 1.3 and Types 1.6, with a completely rebuilt rendering for forms. This release makes it easy to use CRED forms on any site and apply your beautiful designs.

We hoped very much to release this beta yesterday, but it took a little longer. Except for one known glitch, everything is working smoothly (in our testing).

CRED 1.3 does everything that previous CRED versions do, just a lot nicer. The new fields library fits in with any theme and is super easy to customize. Try it to see the simplified HTML output.

Repeating fields, validation, all field types are working. There’s a small JS glitch, happening when using more than one CRED forms on the same WordPress page. Of course, we’ll handle it.

Download CRED 1.3 (beta)

This version of CRED is only available from your Tooset account and not yet automatically delivered. To use it, log in to your account and go to Downloads.

You will need to get both Types 1.6b1 and CRED 1.3b1. CRED 1.3 uses the new fields library, built into Types.

Please keep in mind that this beta version should only go to development sites. Since the fields library has changed, the HTML output of your CRED forms will change. We hope that you will like this change. We do.

Our target is to release CRED 1.3 and Types 1.6 in about 2 weeks. We’ll be starting full QA soon and also handle a few last improvements and we’re ready.

We’d Love to Get Your Feedback

  1. Thanks for the work on the betas, especially cred. I downloaded them to a website I am working on and i seems that none of my previous forms show up. I get a blank page, even during preview within creed itself. I also updated to types beta.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    • I should be a bit more clear. The forms show up on the admin. they don’t show on the front end or in the preview window in cred.

      thanks

      • Thanks for trying the new betas. Francesco or Marcin will reach you very soon and get it sorted.

        • Hi Amir – I’ve been looking forward to this 🙂

I’ve the same problem. On a clean install with a few CPTs and one custom field group, the add and edit content forms aren’t displaying in Preview or in the frontend.

I’ve tried deleting and reinserting the scaffold, but this doesn’t remedy the issue.

          Thanks. Gavin.

  2. Hi,

We need a quick video tutorial explain all the steps to show CRED 1.3 new features and how to use it to display the forms as a case study.

    Thanks,

  3. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the image handling in CRED is still not quite where it should be.

The whole purpose of CRED is to allow content to be added to a web site without exposing the content author to the WordPress backend.

What I’d like to be able to do is allow an author to upload several photos and have them automatically attached to the post so they can be displayed using the gallery shortcode or one of the many alternatives.

The “Add Media” button allows the uploaded images to be attached to the post, but exposes features like gallery creation, images from other posts, and inserting the images directly into the page.

Using a repeating image field has an easy interface but the images are not attached to the post which means you need to jump through some hoops get get a cohesive gallery experience.

Rather than the “Add Media” button, perhaps something like a drag and drop field similiar to Media Upload Meta Box (http://wordpress.org/plugins/media-upload-meta-box/installation/)

Or, perhaps have to toggle for the repeating image field that would attach the uploaded images to the post.

    • You’re not a broken record. I really appreciate your patience and your trust in our plugins.

Can you help me get it right in CRED 1.3?

Please start a support thread and list the problems there. You can include screenshots that explain the issues. Please explain what you would rather have or not have in the CRED elements.

Since we are now dealing with our new fields library, we finally have the flexibility to include exactly and only what we want it in.

After you create that forum thread, add another message here and I’ll get CRED developer to take that thread and work it out with you. Of course, I’ll stay subscribed to that thread, to make sure it gets resolved correctly.

Would you like to do this?

  4. When using a CRED form to edit an existing post with a repeating image field, clicking on the Add new Images link duplicates the first image in the field and does not allow you to actually add an additional image.

  5. Hi everyone.

Is the beta testing period finished ?
It was supposed to last for a week if I remember well.

I wanted to know if we can now safely update to CRED 1.3 on our live websites?

Thank you and keep up the good work!

    • thanks for testing the beta version for CRED 1.3.
We are still in beta as we will be releasing both Types 1.6 and CRED 1.3 and we are doing the final testing so everything will go smoothly for updating from previous versions once we release the full version.
