Problem: I would like to import hundreds of entries in a repeating field group.
Solution: Under the hood, RFG are actually posts in a one-to-many relationship, where the parent is the post containing the field group and each field group row is a child. The slug of the relationship is identical to the slug of the RFG. With that in mind, you can use this guide to create a CSV file containing the relationship information as postmeta values. Use a CSV importer to import this information, then use the Toolset Import tool to import the post relationships.
Problem: I would like to use conditional HTML to show or hide content depending on whether or not there are any entries in the repeating field group associated with the current post.
Solution: There's no syntax in a conditional to check for the existence of entries in a repeatable field group, but you can use a View instead:
- Create a View of this RFG and add a post relationship filter where the parent is set by the page where this View is displayed.
- Set a limit of 1 result, since that's all you need to know.
- In the Loop Editor, click "Skip Wizard" since you don't need to build a Loop.
- In the wpv-items-found tags, include Views shortcodes or Types shortcodes necessary to display content when results are found. If you want to display information from the parent post instead of the RFG, use the id="$current_page" option in the field shortcode like this:
Solution:
It is not simple to add a sorting option for `post__id` since we use that `post__in` query argument in several places, not just the filter by post IDs, so there is no actual way of setting the posts that this sorting option would apply as order list.
The same for `post_name__in` and `post_parent__in`, we cannot offer the posts to include in that sorting option.
