Views adds empty tags and tags in archive templates

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Hi,

I'm using a "WordPress Archive" created with Views to display my index page. Since version 3.1.1 the plugin adds empty <p> tags and <br> at several places of my archive template. These tags cause additional margins! Why does Views add thes tags?

I attached 3 screenshots which show the template and the frontend with v3.0.2 and 3.1.1

I tried to reproduce the problem with Views 3.1.1 but cannot.

I've set up an archive with similar content as in your screenshots, and no additional p tags are being added.

From your screenshots it looks like the HTML comments (to mark the end of a section with some class name) are being wrapped in the p tags, but it's not happening for me.

Can I get a copy of your site to do some testing? hidden link

Hi Nigel,

I just wanted to setup a fresh WP for you to reproduce the problem when I saw that there's a new version of Views: 3.1.2. Unfortunately, this update didn't show up in the automatic updates so far.

Long story short: the bug has already been fixed.
"Fixed a regression about formatting in the archives output."
