view filters not working

Tell us what you are trying to do? display Divi Events in a view, based on category I added with toolset

Is there any documentation that you are following? pretty much everything

Is there a similar example that we can see?

The problem turned out to be with the content template mechanism, not the filtering! That is, when I removed the content template and put my loop body directly into the loop editor, the post filtering worked fine. I made a simple loop body with a unique class, and then used the Divi theme customizer to fix it up.

This is a workaround rather than a solution but it's all I need right now. I have no time to figure out why this happened, now that it works I need to move on and get this site live.
