Using 'CMS Tree Page View' plugin breaks association between pages and Layouts

This support ticket is created 7 years ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

I'm using 'Using CMS Tree Page View' plugin to order pages on WP menu system.

I've previously set some pages to use a custom toolset layout and then, as soon as I use CMS Tree Page View interface to reorder those pages, those pages layouts revert to the default layout for pages.

I guess it's a problem with that plugin.

Can you recommend a plugin with that page ordering functionality, which, by your experience, is working properly with Toolset?

I'm afraid not, there are compatibility issues here and the author of that plugin seems to have abandoned it:

We've had clients experience similar issues with other plugins like Simple Page Ordering as well, and I haven't seen any of those tickets resolved with alternative plugins. For now it seems that the best option with Layouts is to manually order pages.

By manually you mean changing the order number of each page, one at a time. Not very practical, especially when the page list starts to grow and we need to make changes on the order later ...
That's one thing WP core could offer at its core, the ability to order pages with drag and drop ...

Let's hope a better plugin for that comes out.
