[Resolved] User specifying which CPT to search for

This support ticket is created 5 years, 2 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

Tell us what you are trying to do?
Create a view for search that can let the user select which custom post type they want to search through i.e. at the front-end.
eg reports, blogs, webinars.

Is there any documentation that you are following?
No.

Is there a similar example that we can see?
No.

Hi there

Views supports front-end filtering by custom fields or taxonomies, not by standard fields, such as the post type.

You need to create separate Views for different post types.

(You can have one View output posts of multiple post types, but that's not what you are asking for.)

You can submit a request to add support for filtering by post type with this form: https://toolset.com/home/contact-us/suggest-a-new-feature-for-toolset/

That will go to the product manager who determines development priorities.
