This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: When I activate the beta plugins I am shown a PHP Warning, followed by a PHP Fatal Error.

Solution: Try the update process in this order:
- Temporarily deactivate Access
- Deactivate and delete Types
- Deactivate and delete Views
- Install and activate Types beta
- Install and activate Views beta
- Reactivate Access
