Recently we updated Relationships to the latest version. Now, we can't update old many-to-many relationships that had an intermediary (hub) post-type. We don't have the time/resources right now to convert to the new Relationship type, and can't figure out how to roll back (the site is updated constantly so we can't restore an older pre-update backup).

Is there any documentation that you are following?
We've reviewed almost all of the Toolset Relationship documentation already. Since most of it is for the new Relationships type, not the legacy post-update, it hasn't been helpful.

Hello and thank you for contacting Toolset support.

In the new relationship model, we introduced additional tables to the database. Which made the joins between tables different. Unfortunately, we do not have any documentation about the database model. So, you would have to create two installations(for the previous and actual relationships models) and inspect them to understand the relationships.

From our side, here at support, we can help you with any issues you may encounter with the migration. If errors happen, or if the migrated data is not consistent, we'll do our best to help you fix them. But, we do not have any documentation to offer about the relationship model at the database level.
Maybe that's not what you want to hear, but I highly recommend that you continue the migration, so you can continue make your website works as expected.

Hi Jamal,

Thank you for the quick response. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything on this. Does this mean that the only way to migrate legacy Relationships to new ones is to manually re-create it all? Is there no automated way to do this?

I was also hoping there might be a chance to update the database directly in order to update the Legacy Relationships, as I did see the separate tables that you mentioned. Is this also not possible?

The migration is performed by Toolset. You don't have to touch the database manually at all.

Maybe, I did not understand your request very well. Let me ask a couple of quesitons:

- What do you mean by "we can't update old many-to-many relationships that had an intermediary (hub) post-type"?
Can you elaborate more?

- Have you performed the migration?
- If yes, did the migration completed successfully? Or have you encountered any errors?

Can you paste your Toolset Debug information in the Debug information field? This way, we can know which versions of Toolset you have currently.

We have performed the migration, so our legacy Relationships now show as "Migrated" under Toolset > Relationships. The migration completed successfully and didn't throw any errors.

The specific issue we're having is, with those Migrated relationships, they're mostly all many-to-many types, so they had an Intermediary (hub) type that went with them. I cannot find a way to access those Intermediary types anywhere, so we're unable to edit them.

In practice, this becomes an issue because when we try to create a new relationship connection for posts that need to have the pre-existing (migrated) relationship.

Here's an example:
1. We have Articles and Article Authors post types (many-to-many)
2. We create a new Article and a new Author
3. When updating the Article to add the Author connection, the options are "Add new Article Author Hub" or "Connect existing Article Author Hub" -- neither work:

Add new -- Tries to create an Intermediary post type, but doesn't connect
Connect existing -- There isn't one because these are new entries

If I create a NEW relationship, I can make these things all work just fine, however I can't update the migrated Relationships. Does that make more sense...?
