[Resolved] Update issue: Internal Server Error

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
Trying to update Toolset plugins on a registered site the client started to see "Internal Server Error" messages.

Solution:
The underlying cause is a cURL error: cURL error 35: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure

SSLv3 is deprecated because it's no longer considered "safe".

You need to talk with your hosting provider in order to upgrade the hosting server to a PHP cUrl version that has TLS v1.1

Hi there

I cannot replicate this myself, but we have had a few reports of something similar.

Can I get site credentials from you?

The first thing I'd like to try it to register the site under my account. If that fails I'll take a copy of your site and install it locally, and then try to register the site again.

Your next reply is private.

Hi Fabrice

I unregistered your site and then tried to register your site with my account, and doing so I saw the additional error:

cURL error 35: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure

SSLv3 is deprecated because it's no longer considered "safe".

You need to talk with your hosting provider in order to upgrade the hosting server to a PHP cUrl version that has TLS v1.1

We have seen the same issue on a number of sites recently.

Hi,

In checking why updates was not working it seems you deactivate the toolset plugins.
We need time to update the server but in the meantime we need to continue to work.

Can you please make it working again ?

Thanks,

Fabrice

Hi
A "long time" since this conversation and meanwhile I made no update.
I'm now ready to ask to my provider to update.

My problem was the impossibility to upgrade Toolset.
This was the reason :
"You need to talk with your hosting provider in order to upgrade the hosting server to a PHP cUrl version that has TLS v1.1"

Is it still what I need to ask to my provider or are we now on v1.2 or whatever ?

Thanks,

Best regards,

Fabrice
