Hello,

I am migrating data through a csv file and I want to understand how checkbox data is saved.

This is a checkbox that was previously filled out:

a:6:{s:64:"wpcf-fields-checkboxes-option-00b1c3b64ca55114f5610c60fcb58746-1";a:1:{i:0;s:14:"generate-ideas";}s:64:"wpcf-fields-checkboxes-option-62d2c113a8ab671baa591848ca92f4c5-1";a:1:{i:0;s:16:"browse-materials";}s:64:"wpcf-fields-checkboxes-option-dc9e82b7c7651aef81523d47e0898eaf-1";a:1:{i:0;s:10:"save-money";}s:64:"wpcf-fields-checkboxes-option-e0807233596ee0531e388976e5d1f0ef-1";a:1:{i:0;s:17:"visual-art-making";}s:64:"wpcf-fields-checkboxes-option-63808533b44177c0d14c9fc30958ffc9-1";a:1:{i:0;s:23:"tinkering-and-invention";}s:64:"wpcf-fields-checkboxes-option-d0c033db368089746b7940206d01ae9e-1";a:1:{i:0;s:18:"sustainable-events";}}

However, when I import it into the new site, the checkboxes chosen are not ticked off.

Thank you

Hello, first I would like to apologize for the delay responding to your question. There was a technical problem in the support forum that made it impossible to reply to this ticket, and our systems team is working on a long-term solution to the problem.

In regards to checkboxes custom field values, the data for this fieldtype is stored in a serialized data format that is not easily imported or exported between sites without complex custom code. Other fieldtypes that store serialized data are Skype fields and some fields that store multiple values. Some third-party plugins claim to be able to handle this type of serialized data format, like WP All import Pro. Other users have had luck importing checkboxes content using that system, as you can see in some other tickets here in the forum, but Toolset does not support those systems or provide guidance for importing checkboxes data directly:

Hi Christian,

No worries. I hope you well considering the state of the world.

I will spend some time tomorrow with exporting and importing based on the tickets you've shared and I'll be back in touch in case I get stuck.

Thanks,
Arrien

Hi Shane,

I've been trying to sort out things on my end.
I think this forum topic might help me, but it seems to have disappeared. Do you know where I may find it?

Hi Shane,

No go. I think I will get in touch with WP All Import and see what kind of data they are looking for in an import so that I can prepare a CSV to have the right info so that checkboxes translate properly.

Thanks,
Arrien
