I am trying to: update the plugin

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: /wp-admin

I expected to see: normal update

Instead, I got: error message:"An error occurred while updating Toolset Types: Download failed. Not Found"

We ended up manually updating all the Views plugins on all our managed sites last week. That was a real pain. What do we need to do to get normal dashboard updates working for your plugins? This is happening for all our sites!

Hi Bet

There was a bug in the custom Installer version bundled with Types 3.2.5 that affects some users and prevents automatic updates from working.

Unfortunately for those users there is no alternative but to manually update Types in this case (a quick fix was released with version 3.2.6).

First, make sure you have a current backup.

On your plugins page delete the Types plugin (it will remove only the plugin files, not your settings).

Download the latest version of Types from toolset.com/account/downloads.

On the Add new plugins page upload this zip file to install the latest version. You should then be able to apply automatic updates to other plugins (and future Types updates) as normal.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ugh! Is that bug in the custom installer going to be in every Types plugin? If so, are there more updates coming out in the next week or so? Maybe we can save some labor costs by bundling these manual updates?

The bug is in Types 3.2.5, it is fixed in Types 3.2.6.

Not all sites seem to be affected by the issue, but for those that are, there is no alternative but to manually update from 3.2.5 to 3.2.6 I'm afraid.

Ok. All our sites seem to be affected.

Can you give me any info on whether "Layouts" might be coming up for an update in the next week or so? It would really help us keep our labor costs down if we could do these updates that must be done manually as a bundle...

There is an update to Layouts currently in QA testing, so all being well I would expect to see it released next week.

Also, there have been a number of issues with last week's releases that need fixing, so it is possible there could be hotfixes for some of the other plugins, too (any of Types, Views, and Forms). Right now I don't know whether the fixes will simply be available as patches to be applied manually, or plugin updates.

If you maintain a lot of sites you may be interested to know that the recent Types updates which bundle the custom Installer added support for wp-cli.

So if your sites are registered you would be able to update Toolset plugins from the command line, and write a script to update sites in bulk with minimal intervention.
