Tell us what you are trying to do?
I am using a header field and I am trying to define the lenght of Excerp based on "Count Length By characters"
Problem: Unable to change the lenght. After saving, the field is set back to 0.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
No
Is there a similar example that we can see?
See screenshot
I just tried this on my local test site and it was working as expected.
If you are editing a Content Template then at the top there is a selector to choose what post to preview the template with as you design it. Could the problem be that the post currently being used for the preview has no content to extract and excerpt from?
Try updating the preview post to another post that definitely has post content that can be used for the excerpt.
Yes you are partly right. Indeed the post selected needs to have content in order to set the length of the field. But somehow setting this length does not always works.
As you can see in screenshots provided I have selected a post with long (fake) text.
But on one page I can change value to 175, but in other page I can not go further than 55 while the same content item is selected. Behavior is very wierd.
I see that we have an internal ticket about the problem originally described which mentions that the limit can get stuck at a lower number when testing with different source posts.
The intention is to just replace the range slider with a simple text input to specify the excerpt length, but the ticket hasn't received much attention. We have moved that internal ticket from the backlog to the current development sprint so that the developers will get to it sooner and we can avoid this unnecessary complication.
