I'm trying to create a new layout for a custom archive. I selected about 9 columns in the row shown and chose to add an archive. I selected the custom archive. A popup, "Create new WordPress Archive Cell" appears with a moving bar in the middle and it stays this way. Is something wrong?

I tried this in Toolset Blocks and Toolset Views. Same problem in both plugins.

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

That is strange.

Can you please make sure that you are using latest Toolset plugin? If yes:
- In order to minimize the cause of the issue and to make sure there is no plugin/theme conflict:
=>
Could you please try to resolve your issue by deactivating all third-party plugins as well as the default theme to check for any possible conflicts with any of the plugins or themes?

Do you see any difference?

I disabled almost all plugins and switched to a default theme and the problems persists.

Ok - Can you please send me access details so I can check whats going wrong as well as the problem URL where I can see the issue.

*** Please make a FULL BACKUP of your database and website.***
I would also eventually need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site. Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.

I have set the next reply to private which means only you and I have access to it.

I just checked with my local test install and I was able to add the archive cell.

Would you mind to send me duplicator copy of your site for further debugging:

I just noticed that you created the Message archive using blocks.

If you want to use Layouts, you need to create an Archive without using Blocks. I mean you need to create the archive using legacy mode.

Can you please create another archive without using Blocks and check if that helps you to resolve your issue.

#1632647

I understand. Sorry, I'm new to Toolset.

I want to continue using Blocks. Is there a way to create something similar to a layout using Blocks? I want to make a page for my custom archive. I want to show the archive, and have a sidebar on the right which will allow me show only certain taxonomies, for example.

Using Toolset, normally Toolset will have an effect on the content area (body) when you display content template, view or archive.

Toolset do not control the sidebars as it should be controlled by the Theme.

However - if you are using one of our recommended theme, then you can control the limited theme options:
=> https://toolset.com/documentation/recommended-themes/

Maybe you can use the columns to display your archive block and another column you can add another view that displays the certain taxonomy as you want.

Thank you. I didn't realize that about Toolset but now it makes sense. I thought toolset could design the whole page but I'll do it through the theme.
