[Resolved] Translate address field

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
An address custom field gets the formatted address from Google. Sometimes the address can appear in different languages.

Solution:
The language is determined by the browser settings when the address field is completed. We have a feature request to be able to specify the language that Google should format the address in.

I am using an address field type to show addresses on front-end. It is filled by the user using the google map feature to fill the address and draw a map on a CRED form. When the user saves the form, it is ok, the address shown is right.

When the same address is shown on the front-end layout, it comes with english term of "state of..." that doesn´t appear on the CRED form, it only appears the name of the state without "state of". Is there any way to remove that expression or translate it to another language?

Hi there

Could you show me a screenshot?

Is this text integral to the address produced by Google?

Nigel,

Sorry, the address depends on what the user types on the CRED form address field. Sometimes it appears "state of" and sometimes not, like a compacted type.

I would like to tanslate the address to portuguese, or remove the expression "state of".

Thanks,
Selmo

The formatting of the address is determined by Google, and it depends on the browser language settings.

So if you add an address and you are using a browser with English as the main language, the format of the address returned by Google will be in English.

If you add an address and you are using a browser with Portuguese as the main language, the format of the address returned by Google will be Portuguese.

It is currently not possible to modify that behaviour.

We have a feature request to be able to specify the language addresses should be returned in, and I have added this thread to that ticket to add your vote for the feature.

I'm sorry there is not much else I can do for now.
