Good morning,

I have a site that had Toolset installed. I uninstalled it and also uninstalled the OTGS installer. I recently installed WPML. All plugins are the latest version.

The plugin page shows this message:
"Toolset plugin cannot connect to toolset.com. Toolset needs to connect to its server to check for new releases and security updates. Something in the network or security settings is preventing this. Please allow outgoing communication to toolset.com to remove this notice. Need help? See the communication error details and let us know in Toolset technical support."

The communication error details page shows all green checkmarks. How do I get rid of this message?

When you visit the installer troubleshooting page (I guess this is where you saw the green ticks) are there entries in the Installer log (as in the screenshot)?

Hi Nigel,

Yes, there are entries but they don't seem to indicate any issues. Please see attached.

Hi Arno,

The log information doesn't indicate an issue. Your key is being validated successfully.

Try removing the notice message by going to your wordpress backend and navigating to Dashboard->Updates and click on check again.

Once you've done this to notice should be removed.

Thanks,
Shane

Hi Shane,

Ok, I tried that. I then went back to the plugins page, and the message is still there.

Is this a bug perhaps? I now found this: https://wpml.org/errata/toolset-plugin-cannot-connect-to-toolset-com-warning-even-if-toolset-is-not-installed/. But that's on the WPML website.

Hi Arno,

Given that you've uninstalled the Toolset plugins and have only WPML installed then I would recommend that you follow the procedures on our WPML site in order to clear the issue up.

Thanks,
Shane

Thanks Shane, it looks like it worked. I didn't need to do step 5 as WPML turned into unregistered status once the database record was deleted. The message is now gone and WPML shows as registered.

To be honest, it's a bit tricky and time consuming having to backup the site and manually deleting a database record, for a bug that was reported at least 6 months ago. It's worth a quick fix 🙂
