[Resolved] This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.

This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:

I want to change data in a text field, but I get the error: "This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed." When I insert a new field, I see the same error. After downgrading WordPress, clicking on the block shows "The editor has encountered an unexpected error," but the frontend works fine.

Solution:

Turn off WordPress debugging mode to resolve the error.

Hi,

Welcome to Toolset support. I wonder if the blocks that does not show are the Toolset blocks?

Also I need to know if you have the latest version of Toolset plugin suite or not.

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins > Add new > Commercial (tab)".
- Click the "Check for Updates" button.
- Update Toolset and its addons there.

Also please provide the debug information:

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for testing that. I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

I also need steps so that I can see the issue. Please give me the steps that cause the block error, without that, just having a block error will not help as I am not sure where to look for.

Give me the page URL, the steps that I can follow to cause a normal block of Toolset turn into that broken block.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you and sorry for the late reply due to the weekend time. I tried to see where the issue was and I checked the homepage, but the homepage did not have a view.

So I wonder what is the link to the page in question that has the issue you took the screenshot from?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for the login information. I created a draft sample page and used some of the Toolset blocks and I see many of them throw the error as soon as I drag them to the canvas:

This shows that there is some sort of a conflict going on. Would you please follow the steps below?

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except Toolset and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

I left only the toolset plugins, the error remained. If I create a page with all plugins disabled, there is no error when creating blocks on a new page. I want to note that all pages are created using Toolset, so if I disable Toolset, there will be nothing on the site at all.
