[Resolved] Template No Longer Opens (Times out)

I am trying to: open a Guttenberg template with a photo gallery

The template does not open in the admin, it renders fine at the front. When opening from the admin it times out. Making a duplicate and trying to open doesn't work either.

Hi there

Can you please check the browser console for errors, and also check your debug.log to look for PHP warnings or errors that may be linked to this.

If you haven't already, turn on the debug log by editing your wp-config.php file and change the line with WP_DEBUG like so:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);
define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
define('WP_DISABLE_FATAL_ERROR_HANDLER',true);

That will create a debug.log file in your /wp-content/ directory which you can examine in any text editor. Try editing the template again and then inspect the log. If you don't find the debug.log file it means it didn't generate any warnings or errors.

Thank you for providing the website credentials.

Upon further inspection, we could make the Photo Galleries template accessible again by following these steps:

- First, we have updated the Toolset plugins
- Then, we went to Toolset -> Content Templates and checked that the mentioned content template was not assigned to the Photo Galleries CPT. Also, through this section the template could be opened
- By assigning it to the CPT, and trying to open it again in the Toolset Dashboard section, we were able to edit the template

Could you please check it and confirm that the issue is solved? Thanks!

I'm not sure what you are saying because the template is assigned to Photo Galleries (single) and it can't be unassigned from here?

You say to check it is not assigned, but it is assigned. Maybe you mean to say unassign it? if so, how?

Thanks for your patience.

Now we can see the content template: hidden link

The content template was set to view with post ID "tb_preview_post": 823, and that post ID does not exists. There was many issues like types shortcodes were not closed properly that we already fixed but still it seems that you have added many conditional statements and that causes the issue.

Please try to open the template again, assign the desired options in the 'Usage' section, then check if it'll work fine this time in the blocks editor.

Great. The template is accessible on Staging, how do I transfer this to Live?

As for shortcodes not being closed, that happens when saving in Guttenberg, especially when going into HTML mode and then back.

Thanks for your patience.

Upon further inspection, we have concluded that the template has several issues in its conditions and due to this, it can't be restored anymore, unfortunately.

There is a duplicated template with the same name + 'without conditions', and you'll check that the problem does not occur to this dupe (if we switch it to the blocks editor, I mean).

We have tried several ways to restore it, but I'm afraid that we aren't able to accomplish this task at this point. Having said that, may I kindly ask you to recreate the content template and make sure to set the conditions accordingly? Thanks for your understanding.
