https://toolset.com/forums/topic/i-cant-edit-the-templates/

Note: WP just updated the plugins, but its nothing to do with the problem.

I see things in code, which I can not use. I want to get back to the visual view where I can see the drag and drop blocks. what button or menus should I look for? The site works fine, I just cant find a way to get back to the simple editor.

Thanks
J

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but I suspect you have switched to the code editor.

Wherever you use the Gutenberg block editor you can switch back and forth between the Visual editor and Code editor.

Expand the options by clicking the vertical 3 dots at the top right, and there you will see the option for which editor to use.

Is that the only place you have the problem?

That looks like the visual editor (I can see the + button for adding new blocks), but the content I can see (the wpv-conditional shortcodes etc.) appears to be inside something like a Custom HTML block.

If you expand the block navigator to show the blocks on the page, what does it show?

To me that looks expected, inasmuch as the screenshot shows a Fields and Text block (which is a Toolset block for adding custom HTML with dynamic content generated via shortcode), and the block has content which includes wpv-conditional shortcodes etc.

If you want I can take a look.

Let me mark your next reply as private so that I can get log-in credentials from you—you may want to create a temporary admin user for me to use that you can later delete. And be sure to have a current backup of your site.

Can you also confirm some urls that I should check?

I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the site. It uses a mixture of the legacy interface and the blocks interface, so I guess it has been worked on over a period of time.

Some of the templates are made with the block editor, but just contain a Fields and Text block which is a bit like the old tinyMCE editor for adding formatted text with dynamic sources produced by shortcodes.

In the screenshot I'm editing the template "Artist profile data middle2" which I located as the source of the date of birth on the artist profile, and I switched to HTML mode from Visual mode as it is easier to see exactly how the content is added.

You said you wanted to remove the date of birth, so I deleted those rows, and checking an artist profile on the front end see that it has indeed removed that part.

You'll need to do the same for the template responsible for the same part of the crew member profile.
